Protection and empowerment
The volunteers at the Hays-Caldwell Women's Center provide domestic violence and abuse survivors the counseling and help they need to get back out into the world. Some do it because they've been there, and understand how important it is to have a support system in those difficult situations. Others do it because they want people to talk about, and understand domestic violence and abuse, in hopes that educating others will prevent the frequency of abuse. From answering the crisis hotline, to educating local teens, to meeting abuse victims in the emergency room, these volunteers provide vital help to those in need.
The volunteers empower survivors to get the counseling, education and support they need to one day stand on their own two feet again, thus turning a destructive and dangerous situation into a potentially positive one.
