Shining an entirely new light on volunteerism.
Volunteer, some do because they have to, others because they’ve “been there.” Some do it because they know what it feels to give and to receive; others do it because it “feels right.” Some do it because they love animals and others do it because they have felt the pain. The one thing that is certain is that there is not one single type of motivation or reason for why people volunteer. Everybody has their own story.
Some have volunteered for 22 years, others for two months. Some have done it since they were 72, others since 2005. Some work with animals and others with tools. Some hand out food and others provide counseling.
The purpose of this multimedia site is to highlight the opportunities to volunteer in San Marcos, Texas. Volunteering is a way to give your time to those that are down on their luck, or unable to help themselves. San Marcos has many nonprofit organizations whose mission is to help those in need. The site only highlights four organizations, for information about other volunteer opportunities, please click here. These organizations are always in need of people to volunteer. You may not be in a position to give cash donations, but your time and energy are just as valuable.
This site tells a story of the people who hand out the food, walk the dogs, console the inconsolable, put up the walls, feed the cats, provide strength, create a home and help put food on tables. Their motivations may differ and their impact may vary but they all sacrifice their time and effort for someone other than themselves.
Please explore the testimonials, photos and volunteer information on this site.
