Feeding the hungry
The shelves at the Hays County Food Bank are stocked and ready. Ready for those that need a little help feeding their families. The volunteers at the food bank know this, and welcome them with open arms. Some understand what it's like to need a little help, others volunteer because they want to feel like they're making a difference. That's why Ms. Thrine Soto has been volunteering at the food bank for 22 years, she knows she is helping people.
The volunteers sort through donations that come from all over the city, both from local businesses and citizens. Once the food has been sorted, the volunteers determine what areas of the city are most in need, and distribute the food accordingly. Besides distributing the food themselves, the volunteers also help locals that come to the food bank. No one is ever turned away, those that need food, leave with enough to feed their family.
See why Ms. Thrine, and others, volunteer.
